Hi all, I was trying to install SVN support into my plain vanilla Galileo
(J2EE) installation.

I followed the instructions exactly as described in
http://www.polarion.com/products/svn/subversive/download.php but after
starting the install (i.e. after checking "Subversive Team Provider
(incubation)" and hitting "Next") I got the following error:
-----------------------------------
'Install' has encountered a problem.
An error occurred while collecting the items to be installed.
-----------------------------------

"Details >>" shows:
-----------------------------------
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=epp.package.jee,
phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.provisional.p2.engine.pha ses.Collect,
operand=, action=).
Result of processing steps.
Unpack facility not configured
OK
OK
Result of processing steps.
Unpack facility not configured
OK
OK
-----------------------------------

What do I need to fix/add/configure to get this installed?

Michael

Hello Michael,

This is a problem with Eclipse Update Manager(p2), there are any number of
reasons why this could happen ( probably, network/transfer problems).
Please, try to install Subversive from following update site:
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/subversive/0.7/update -site/, or if
you still have problem you can download archived update site and then
install from it, here's link to latest release archived update site:
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technolo gy/subversive/0.7/builds/Subversive-incubation-0.7.8.I200910 23-1300.zip

Turned out the reason was something completely different:

I was running eclipse using the IBM v6 JRE. Googling around for the error
message I found that this seems to be a known issue with the update manager
when using the IBM JRE. So I temporarily switched eclipse to the Sun JRE,
did the update - which went fine - and subsequently switched back to my
preferred JRE.

My guess it might have to do with the .zip (= .jar) file package but since
the suggested workaround did the trick I didn't dive any further into the
details as to *why* this happens.

Hope that helps others that run into the same problem...

Michael
