Hi,

I'm new to Eclipse, so I hope this isn't too obvious.

I have a .jsp file in a web project, however when the file is opened in Eclipse, it is simply displayed as plain black text, with no highlighting.

I have the WTP plugin installed, which you can see here:

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers,
Shane

Hi,

how did you open the JSP? Right click the file and call "Open With" -> "JSP
Editor". Maybe the the option "Open with Text Editor" became your default.

Hope it is this simple solution ;-).

Hi Wolfgang,

I don't get an "Open With" -> "JSP Editor" option. These are the options I get:

I wonder why...?

Cheers,
Shane

Very strange. How did you install WTP? And are you using a 1.5 or
newer JRE?

Do you have the JSP content type associated with the *.jsp file extension?

You can check this by going to Window > Preferences. In the navigation panel, expand General and select Content Types. In the Content Types panel, there should be a JSP type under the Text type. When you select JSP, do you see *.jsp listed?

I'm not seeing the .jsp file type listed, so something is obviously wrong:

Here is the version of WTP I have installed:

I'm going to try and reinstall the WTP tools via the update site:

http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates/

Fingers crossed...

Shane

p.s. Oh, and I'm using Eclipse on a Mac OS X (Snow Leopard), and the version of Eclipse is the Java (non EE) edition with Google App Engine Tools installed.
