Hi @ll,

I have a real big problem. I downloaded galileo and ganymede as well but both of the are not running on my x64 Fedora 12 system. I tried to get them run with an old workspace which did not work. Then I created a new one because I thought somethings wrong with the workspace. This does not change anything.
Eclipse starts without any problems but then I can do hardly anything. Adding new update sites shows me the dialog to enter URL's but the OK button does nothing. I have to click somewhere else before the cancel button works. The same with new servers and so on.
It feels like my prototype ui's where I do not implement listeners on the buttons.

Can anybody tell me please where the problem is? Unfortunately there are no logfiles created so I cannot help with them.

Regards,
Markus

There should be a log file in your workspace/.metadata/.log. Is that not created? What were you running when things last worked?

I assume you mean an x86_64 system (64 bit) and you are using the 64-bit Java (a 32 bit Eclipse should not even start with a 64-bit Java). Also make sure you are using the Java JRE from Sun. I think there are issues with the Java that comes normally with Fedora. In fact, that's likely your problem.

This is a known problem between SWT and the newer versions of Gtk and is
coming up quite a bit on the Eclipse newsgroups. Please see the bug
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=291257 You need to set
the GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS environment variable as it says.

Nearly every package on the system is 64bit. Sun JDK, eclipse as well. I checked these things and it should be ok.
