Hi,

we are building an ontology engineering environment (NeOn Toolkit) based on the eclipse platform. The toolkit uses the Eclipse update mechanism to distribute plugins easily and make them simple to install.

I am using Eclipse 3.5 and I am building and maintaining the Update Site Project for this process. This means I have about 30 feature projects with the corresponding plugins (arranged in different categories).

My question: How can I update the site efficently? Strangely enough, rebuilding the update site after some changes took place does not work. I don't get error messages or the like but after I install the plugin in our toolkit (from the freshly built update site) nothing has changed and the plugin just looks like as it has done earlier.

So far, updating has only worked with increasing the version numbers of the feature and of the correponding plugins. Doing so, new jar files are created and everything works fine.

But of course this behaviour is very bad. It is not wanted to change the version numbers because of minor changes and this also needs far too much time!

Is it somehow possible to just hit "build all" and everything (all the jar files of the plugins and features, the site.xml etc. etc.) is going to be rebuild and up to date?

I would be very happy if someone could help me,
best regards

Felix Kiechle
