Weird button behavior [message #498620] Tue, 17 November 2009 16:59 Go to next message

After upgrading to KDE 4.3 I am seeing weird behavior in some modal dialogs (generally ones that require more input than just a button press, such as the Open Resource dialog). When I click on the 'OK' button, nothing happens. If I move the focus to a different button with the tab key and then click the button, still nothing happens. But if I tab to the button and press enter, it accepts it.

I thought this might be a problem with KDE itself, but I don't see this behavior in any other apps. It might be a problem with the JVM, but I don't really use any other Java programs.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? Does anyone know how to correct it?

Thanks,
Nathan

Seems like it might be a GTK issue...I solved it through the method described here.

OK, I was wrong again. I thought those steps fixed it, but apparently the problem is just intermittent.

I also note that other people running OpenSUSE are seeing this problem as well:

Setting the GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true environment variable is working for
me on Ubuntu Karmic.

Hi Nathan

I'm almost sure, you're describing this bug here:

Roland,

Pretty sure you're right. For a while I tried the workaround and thought it didn't help, but now it seems to be working pretty consistently.

Thanks!
Nathan
