AJDT 1.2.0 Milestones Plan ? [message #50165]

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I could not find a
plan for AJDT 1.2.0.

Is there one published online ?

In any case I'd like to know when a final version could be expected (either
for Eclipse 3.0.1 or 3.1)

Firstly, in the short term, we will put out our M3 release after AspectJ
1.5.0M2 has been released, and after Eclipse 3.1M6 has been released (due
1 April), and we have made any necessary changes to support that version
of Eclipse.

The uncertainty with trying to predict these things is caused by the way
in which AJDT is closely tied to both AspectJ and Eclipse. There are two
main possibilities here:
1. We don't get to AJDT 1.2.0 final until both AspectJ 5 and Eclipse 3.1
get to final, which would mean around July at the earliest.
2. We put out an AJDT 1.2.0 final around late May / early June, but this
would then be limited - it could only be considered "final" when running
on Eclipse 3.0, and not using any AspectJ 5 features. We would then follow
up with a 1.2.1 release soon after Eclipse 3.1 and AspectJ 5.

So here is a tentative schedule for both possibilities:

April: 1.2.0 M3
June: 1.2.0 final or 1.2.0 M4
August: 1.2.1 final or 1.2.0 final

I'd be interested to hear what you, or anyone else, think of these
possibilities, and what decisions you are trying to make based on AJDT
plans. In both cases the functional content will be much the same, it
really comes down to confidence in its robustness as to whether we call
the middle release 1.2.0 final or just M4. There will also be Release
Candidate builds leading up to any "final" releases.

Actually, I found that page soon after I wrote the mail.

Since I was mostly interested in dates, your mail is quite useful to me.

Since I'm not (yet) interested in JDK 1.5 features, I would be Ok with an
intermediate version of AJDT running on Eclipse 3.0 without AspectJ 5
features.
So I would vote for choice 2.

I used a little AJDT 1.1.12 and AJDT 1.2.0M2 and so far I'm quite impressed
with the job you've done ... but I must say that there are some side effects
on some of the JDT features. Since a lot of those bugs are fixed in 1.2.0M2
I would prefer to go for that one instead of 1.1.12.
So for me the priority would be to have an AJDT 1.2.0 final as robust as
possible.
