my use case is that i have several eclipse workspaces that i need to open concurrently and i would like them to share the same Mylyn DB.

i have tried to do this yesterday and it seems to work.

so far i havent seen any side effect yet and changes in one instance are propagated to the other.

but is this safe?

I encounter the similar case.

I use the Local repository and want to share this tasks and their context through different workspaces. These workspace has similar projects and codes, i.e, one for maintenance, the 2nd for development.

Can we have there any options such as new Local repository in eclipse instance installation dir, or even to specify a dir, i.e, c:\myRepository

At least, we should be able to export a task and its context and then import it into another local repository. Can't we do that?

Thanks.

Simple solution is to subscribe for some free repository service :-)

For example, hosted FogBugz repository is free for 2 users
(http://www.fogcreek.com/FogBugz/StudentAndStartup.html), and Foglyn,
FogBugz connector for Mylyn, can also be used for free for this FogBugz
edition (http://www.foglyn.com/fogbugz-startups-students.html).

I think it is also possible to find free Trac hosting or some other
repository which will suit your needs.
