Hi!

I got ANT recently installed in Eclipse, and it overrides my formatting
preferences for all .java files, if these files belong to web projects.
It doesn't happen for .java files from non-web projects.

Please help me to fix it.

Thanks.

This sounds mysterious. Can you be more specific about what you mean by
"installing ANT"? Ant normally "comes with" every Eclipse installation,
so I'm wondering if you mean something other than what normally comes
with Eclipse?

Hi David!

When I installed Eclipse there was no ANT.
I installed ANT later by using somebody's link.
Now all my .java files under web projects that were created prior to
installing ANT, are not being formatted when I press ctrl+shift+F.
Newly created files are OK.
All files under non-web projects are OK.

Where can I find a brief source of information about Eclipse and ANT?

Thank you very much,
Anna

The eclipse Help would be one good place to get information.

http://help.eclipse.org/galileo/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse .platform.doc.user/concepts/concepts-antsupport.htm

I've never heard of any problem similar to what you are having, so I
think that "ant" you installed was something pretty special. Not the
ordinary ant support. There is a concept of "stored launcher" and I know
some people have written those so that, for example, when code is
checked out from cvs, the launcher is executed and, depending on the
launcher, may do something to modify your code ... perhaps reformattng
some in this case that it things it should. But, keep in mind, I'm just
guessing. Without knowing what you really have installed, I've no idea
what's going on (well, I probably wouldn't even if I did know, since I
have only used the standard ant that comes with Eclipse SDK).

One approach, I'd advise, is for you to start over, with a clean install
of Eclipse SDK or Java EE IDE, skip the link somebody sent, and then
read the help links about the ant that is there, and see if you can
wrestle it to do what you want.
