Hi,

First apologies if this is the wrong forum -- it seemed to be the most
appropriate to reach an eclipse foundation admin :).

I was wondering if the Eclipse CVS archives (as available on
archive.eclipse.org/arch) are mirrored anywhere?

The tar'd directories don't seem to be much larger than an Operating
System DVD, so it would seem a sensible thing have mirrored.

Cheers,
James

Hi,

The entire directory is 17G, and it is completely regenerated every
weekend. I can't imagine that many people download all of that, so if
we introduce it into our mirroring system, we would be transferring 17G
x 40 mirrors every week.

You're right. I'm not sure it's necessarily wanted frequently enough to
justify it either.

Unfortunately, when it's needed it's a bit slow downloading it from
eclipse.org (my download is 6 hours and counting...).

What *might* help is if they were only made available via BitTorrent, at
least then the entire bandwidth cost might be shared by other concurrent
downloaders, and overall throughput might be higher.

Cheers,
James
