Connector discovery - availability [message #483638] Wed, 02 September 2009 11:57 Go to next message

Hi!

The page
http://www.polarion.com/products/svn/subversive/connector_di scovery.php
talk about Connector discovery but it does not work on my setup.

After some inspection, I see the page says "... than it was in versions
before 0.7.8.I20090808-1900". I just installed Eclipse 3.5.0 Java EE IDE
and then the subversive plugin, which is the version
0.7.8.I20090506-1500 (and Update says there is no newer version).

Are the newer releases in some pre final stage (beta, etc...) ?
Where to get them? If they are not final, is it a good idea to use them
in production?

Regards,
David

Now I tried with:
- Eclipse Version: 3.4.2 Build id: M20090211-1700
- Subversive - SVN Team Provider 0.7.8I20090904-1300

Again it does not work.
After restarting Eclipse nothing happens.
After opening the SVN Repository Exploring perspective nothing.
After creating a new repo location, it complains that a connector is missing, but does not offer the installation.

Regards,
David

PS: I will install the connector manually.

Hello David,

Please, ensure that you don't have already installed connectors, if they
are(maybe old versions), delete them using p2; connectors discovery feature
is activated on first calling to Subversive after Eclipse restart if there
are no connectors features already installed. Do you have any related errors
in Error Log view?

1.) What is p2?

2.) I deleted and reinstalled (unzipped, actually) Eclipse many times

3.) I installed subclipse and it works.

Regards,
David

Hello David,

As In understand you tried to install Subversive on clean/new Eclipse and it
doesn't work.
The steps are following:
1. Install Subversive from update site, e.g.
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/subversive/0.7/update -site/ (or from
archive update site) for more details please see
http://www.eclipse.org/subversive/downloads.php
2. After Subversive installed call any Subversive finctionality, e.g. open
SVN Repository Exploring perpsective and Connectors Discovery dialog should
appear, if it doesn't appear, please check any related errors in Error Log
view. Connectors Discovery dialog allows to install svn connectors.
Connectors Discovery feature is available starting from 0.7.8.I20090808-1900
version.
Note that Connectors Discovery feature depends on Equinox Provisioning
Repository bundle, you can seach for org.eclipse.equinox.p2.repository
bundle.

I'm having similar problems, but i'm trying to move from 3.4 to 3.5 so it's an existing setup. I'm getting no svn related functionality- the <SVN Repository> explorer is empty and the projects have no svnnature -

The log shows ..
org.eclipse.team.core.TeamException: Could not instantiate provider org.eclipse.team.svn.core.svnnature for project.

I've tried numerous installs.
1. Via "Galileo" - Galileo - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo and then Collaboration / Subversive and
2. as you mention above via the update URL you quote - http://download.eclipse.org/technology/subversive/0.7/update -site/

in both cases no connectors are loaded. I tried loading the connectors manually but always the same error in the .log shown above.

info:
Using the JEE version of eclipse ...
vista business .

Just to say, you may have noticed I was using the Java EE Galileo package ... I ditched it and fetched the latest "classic" eclipse and since then everything works fine with subversive - including connector discovery.

I recently reinstalled eclipse and this time the connector discovery worked.
I used galileo SR1 (Java EE package).
