Hi everyone,

I recently downloaded Topcased RCP 3.0.1 for Linux. When I try to run it (by running the "eclipse" executable in the topcased directory) I get an error saying Eclipse isn't installed. I Just downloaded Eclipse 3.5 prior to topcased as well. Both Eclipse and topcased are in my /home directory. Can someone help me with this problem?

I have 64 bit Linux and 64 bit Eclipse 3.5. I think Topcased is made for 32 bit as that is what shows when I type "file eclipse" on the executable within the topcased directory. I am going to see if I can run 32bit eclipse to fix this. If not, I will just put it on my windows machine.

When I try to run 32 bit eclipse it says "cannot find companion launcher jar." Same error message when I try to run Topcased.

Well I have come to the conclusion that Topcased is for 32bit platforms only. If so, that defeats the purpose of java, to take away the hardware dependencies.

John,

No, Topcased is not only available on 32bit platforms.

That is true the two RCP versions that are packaged are built against
win32 and linux-gtk platforms only (we assume they are the most common
platforms for which we could propose a RCP version), but it is
"supposed" to work on much more platforms.

In your case, you should first download the appropriate version
( http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.5-20 0906111540/index.php
- linux-gtk-x86_64) and use update site mechanism to install Topcased
and its dependencies.

See the release note for additional informations, and if you have any
further problem, please use the Tocpased users mailing list :

Jacques
