Looking for Eclipse Tools Engineers....

My clients Development Tools team is tasked with creating world-class development tools for mobile development. The team delivers the tools used to develop applications for my client's platform from C/C++ device-drivers to AJAX applications. The team works closely with open-source projects like Eclipse and GNU, development projects within the community, and tools vendors to deliver a compelling product to mobile developers.

In this role the Eclipse Engineer will be a major contributor to a highly skilled team that delivers the IDE used by all software developers working with the Symbian platform to create a range of software from device-drivers to web applications.

The Eclipse Engineer is accountable for contributing to a solution that everyone developing for the platform has a world-class set of development tools - in terms of usability, functionality, and quality.

The Eclipse Engineer will have a leading role in creating an insuring that high-quality Eclipse plug-ins are available in open source to support C/C++, Java, and Web development for their platform.

Given the wide variety of excellent tools available from open-source projects like Eclipse and GNU, open-source projects within the community, and other tools vendors - the focus of the team will be on working with these groups and integrating their tools together into an elegant and high-quality toolset that is delivered via the developer website.

In addition - the team will work with other key IDE vendors to ensure that support is well integrated into their products.

The team will focus on tools for the following core environments (but will also be involved in projects related to Java, .NET, flash, python, ruby, and others):

·System-level C/C++ (e.g. device-drivers, network protocols, codecs)
·Application-level C/C++
·Web development (e.g. Javascript, AJAX)

Adaptability to perform a variety of tasks necessary to create a world-class mobile development tools suite:
·Contribute to building product roadmap of development tools. This will be based primarily on knowledge gained through a close on-going engagement with the developer community and tools vendors.

On-going dialogue with the community to educate, evangelize, and better understand the needs of the community.

Essential Skills & Experience

In addition to the above, the Eclipse Engineer, Development Tools is expected to demonstrate excellent competence in the following areas:

·Eclipse Development skills - proven ability to develop and deliver Eclipse code
·Development Tools skills - Internal knowledge of a range of development tools including debuggers, project/build systems, static analysis tools and dynamic analysis tools
·Deployment skills - Good understanding of Eclipse plug-in build, packaging and installation
·Communication skills - able to clearly articulate technology and strategy within the Eclipse community
·Agile skills - perform at high level with a high degree of teamwork and continuous integration
