API to change org.eclipse.wst.common.component contents [message #481149]

I'm having trouble locating the proper API to programmatically change a
project's settings as contained in
settings/org.eclipse.wst.common.component. For example, I may want to
change the wb-module deploy-name or add/remove some wb-resource entries
based on our "customized" web app project. I'm assuming I'll have to get
a handle to some Project interface and then set properties; any guidance?
