Hi,

I'm glad you like the article. ;)

Yes you are correct, plug-ins still matter because they are used to deploy
the cheatsheets within the workbench for users to access. The "Register
cheat sheet wizard" takes care of adding the required plug-in manifest
mark-up to make this happen.

Now if you want to edit cheatsheets and deploy them elsewhere on your own,
you are free to create and edit them using the cheatsheet wizards and
editors in a non-plug-in related project. If you change your mind, the
"Register cheat sheet wizard" will still work because it will attempt to
automatically convert the project housing the edited cheat sheet into a
plug-in project (e.g. by adding the "plugin.xml" and "MANIFEST.MF" files).

(or by pressing F1 within the wizard):

Plug-in development environment(PDE) user guide > Tools > Editors > Simple
Cheat Sheet Editor > Register Cheat Sheet Wizard

I found this thread because I am having trouble registering the Cheat Sheets I have created. For some reason the "Register this cheat sheet" link does not appear on the Cheat Sheet Editor. I am using Eclipse 5.1 and maybe it wasn't available yet. I really don't know. Another reason might be that I have mashed two 'versions' of Eclipse together. They are not really two different versions. One 'version' is the RCP that the developers in my company create from a barebones setup of Eclipse. The other 'version' is the Eclipse SDK that I downloaded. The RCP developers took out the Cheat Sheet Editor capability that I needed, so to get it back I mashed them together by filling in all of the holes with the SDK download that were created by the RCP developers.

I either need to fix Eclipse to get the registration link back or I just need to learn how to register the Cheat Sheets manually. I'd like to learn both.

I have an inkling of what I have to do, but I don't know the details. The devil is in the details.
