What is important is not what they are thinking of!
Java at current level is nothing but a bunch of junky technology.
I don't see many real *commercial* applications developed in Java!
It's because those people don't understand or inability to make
things work. They are just execusing their inability!

Unless GUI technology that give commercial developers right packages,
Java is hopeless. Currently, SWT is the only look-promissing one. I can see
some quality concerned organizations switching to SWT (from crap Swing)!

As long as it can meet the quality standards, who develops
and how it is developed don't matter. I regret that Microsoft
pulled out from Java. MS could been the savior of Java.

Cheers.

All you have to do is to look for better non-Sun layout managers and
LAF's and know how to thread these GUI processes.

Example. http://www.jgoodies.com/

I use them and they work out quite nicely. Have a different screenshots
at my website for free and pro versions of JHackerAppManager. It also
can use non-Sun LAF's. Just takes a little imagination.

Are you sure you posted the right link? All he says is that IBM wants to
get the money back they put into Eclipse like Sun wants to get the
money back they put into NetBeans.

Here's a crucial question;
Have you commercially successful with casual Windows users with the GUI?
No more Swing please. I am dizzy now. I've been swining over 8 years!

Best regards.

(Posting the first time in here, hope it'll work . . .)

So true. While I have always enjoyed to write programs in the Java language,
which I find way more pleasant than C++, Swing never gave me the feeling to
do something ``real." I'm currently learning SWT and JFace, hoping to be
able to benefit both from Java and native UI widgets. SWT seems heaven-sent
to me, and I hope it'll replace the good ole AWT forever. I'm deeply
impressed by how beautiful Eclipse has become.
