[QUERY] Does EMF Query run in Standalone mode? [message #431068] Thu, 25 June 2009 14:04 Go to next message

Hi,

I've been playing lately with EMF Query, and I've experimented some
problems while running it in Standalone mode. I'm not sure whether EMF
Query was intended to run in standalone or not. Could anyone confirm this?

It might be a problem of launch configuration as well, but I don't have
much experience of standalone mode. I'm so used to OSGi that now is
difficult to go back to old raw classpath days.

Cheers,
Víctor.

Hi Victor,

The current version of Query does not support a standalone setup. I am
sorry.
However we (SAP) are at the moment in the progress of preparing a new
contribution which aims to renovate the whole query solution for EMF. This
will also be able to run in standalone scenarios as this is one of the
major requirements for us as well. This version is expected to show up
sometime in summer in the Eclipse CVS.

HTH,

Bernd

Bernd,

thanks for your comments. Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing
something wrong before spending more time on it :P

As you might have read in other posts, I'm working on a concrete syntax
for Query. The Standalone mode was a desirable feature for us, so I'll
be looking forward for your contribution.

Cheers,
Víctor.

Víctor,

Note I'm still gathering names for people who'd like to be on the new
committer teams for Query, Validation, and Transaction given that these
components are effectively committerless now. I'm finally hoping to
revisit the notes on this subject in the Modeling PMC mailing list in
the coming week...

Ed,

thanks for the proposal but unfortunately I lack in time to contribute
to another project. Anyway, I don't discard contributions in the future.

And meritocracy shall prevail :P

Cheers,
Víctor.
