hi all,
i recently started using eclipse, but it is very annoying for me having to
run two eclipse-setups, one for my linux account and one for my winxp
account.

as most of eclipse is platform independent, why isnt it possible to run just
one eclipse setup for both?

yes, i found howtos for importing projects and using my work an both setups
this way. but i still need to administer my plugins and eclipse updates
twice, also they are the same on both setups.

why isnt it possible to encapsulate the platform dependent stuff
(workspace-path, and so on) in some system specific config? or is it?

Not really a valid question for the Eclipse foundation newsgroup. You'd be better off asking on Ask EZ forum at EclipseZone or the platform newsgroup.

Short answer: you can do this; it just involves merging the contents of a Linux install and Windows install into the same directory structure.

Alex.
