converting to RCP and dumping IDE dependencies [message #394699] Sat, 20 November 2004 10:34 Go to next message

I am converting my app to RCP and only a few classes left. One of which
is IFileEditorInput. I am surprised to see that this is part of the
IDE. Does this mean that RCP does not support resource tracking? Does
this mean that RCP does not support IFile natively?

Is there a graph anywhere that shows what RCP supports natively, and
what is in other plugins?

No graph, just download the RCP SDK to see what the list of bare-bones
plug-ins - the resources plugin is not included. If you want IResources
you can either include the IDE plugin, or add a dependency on IResource
directly and create your own views/actions/editors based on IResource.

I prefer option 1, because you will probably find that when using
resources you will need many classes from IDE.
