Could i use B2J stand alone? [message #374079] Fri, 08 June 2007 09:09 Go to next message

Hi, friends,

I had installed B2J plug-in with Eclipse 3.3, and I have two question:

1. I can run BPEL which it is included in 'Sample BPEL files', but i can
not run BPEL process which it was created by ActiveBPEL. What's the reason
of this? Does B2J just support pure BPEL? (ActiveBPEL has some extension
points for BPEL).

2. So far, I just run BPEL using B2J with Eclipse, could i use B2J stand
alone without Eclipse?

Thanks.

Best regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,

B2J and ActiveBPEL are likely not on exactly the same page regarding the
BPEL 2.0 specification. The specification has only recently been
ratified and B2J is not completely up to date.

B2J can be run standalone. You can run a BPEL process in the
distributed engine by changing the settings in the launch configuration
(see the 'Distribution' tab). This will mean the process will run
entirely separately from Eclipse.

In addition you can also use the B2J APIs to compile and run BPEL
entirely outwith Eclipse. To do this take a look at the class:

org.eclipse.stp.b2j.core.publicapi.example.IndependantAPIExa mple

in the B2J source code.

cheers
