Is there any simple texteditor code/plugin that uses the xsd api which is
free to use and modify and which provides codeassist, syntax highlighting
on xsd schema based xml files?

It should also generate sample xml from an xsd.
It should be free to use and modify
I will list what I need together.
1. XML editor with code assist, syntax highlighting and sample xml
generation from xsd
2. free to use and modify code
3. it should use the xsd api of eclipse
We would be able to save some time in our plugin code if we can reuse such
a code. Our plugin would probably include this code. It would be only a
secondary functionality in our plugin code. We can declare in our plugin
that it reuses code from elsewhere.

Hello, Raster!
There is a free XML editor, X-Men which also features code assist,
syntax highlighting, and some basic XML Schema support. It also uses the
XSD plugin.
You can check it out at: http://xmen.sourceforge.net/
Hope that one helps,
Tommy
