Hi all,
I'm a student and work on my diploma thesis, which is about
transformation of business process models. During my inquiries I
encountered MOF QVT and ATL as a method / technology for model-to-model
transformations.
As practical part of my thesis I'd like to implement a solution to
transform BPEL process to XPDL for the integration of two BPM Systems.
I wonder if its possible to implement the transformation beetween BPEL
and XPDL with ATL. In my opinion it will need more than a simple mapping
of (workflow) constructs. So I need to implement rules that realize
mappings of more or less complex patterns / groups of constructs in BPEL
to appropriate patterns / groups in XPDL.
Are there any experiences in transformation between BPEL and XPDL?
Any advice or information is appreciated.
Thanks and regards
Erik

ATL is really appropriated for implementing this kind of process (and
transformations).

First versions (in both KM3 & Ecore formats) of the BPEL and BPMN
metamodels for describing business processes are already available from
http://www.eclipse.org/gmt/am3/zoos/.
But we don't have worked yet on transformations using these two metamodels.
However, you can find from
http://www.eclipse.org/m2m/atl/usecases/PRR2IRL/ the description of an
ATL use case that present a possible bridge between two business rule
languages
This may give you some ideas about how you can apply ATL to your
specific problem.
