This group is intended to allow commercial vendors to post product
releases and information regarding commercial products based on Eclipse.

Articles posted more than once, and articles unrelated to Eclipse may be
deleted without notice.

That's a bit offtopic - but wouldn't it make sence to dedicate this group
not only for commercial vendors but for all add-in providers? I.e.
opensource communities, universities - whoever produces plugins? And rename
this group to eclipse.plugin-announcement?

Webmaster, all

Does this include new standalone Java tools developed using Eclipse. I just
launched a new tool SuperZap file utility for Windows www.SuperZap.net that
was developed using Eclipse and I'd be very interested in feedback on its
usefullness and also the technical aspects of the Swing GUI support, thread
management for background processes, security permissions, Windows Command
processing, etc.

Eclipse was most helpful in speeding up the development process of this new
tool.

My opinion is that only product that are based upon Eclipse/SWT and
add-in providers for extending Eclipse are allowed to post here.

Every single application that are developed using Eclipse as IDE, are
NOT allowed to post here. That would destroy the group.

I also think that this newsgroup should be renamed to something that
will cover all the range of open source and commercial plugins.

On the other hand, there are already several websites that list eclipse
plugins. Do we really need another newsgroup for that?
I doubt that any useful discussions will develop here.

I believe forums like this and the helpwanted newsgroup help preventing
off-topic posts in the technical newsgroups.

In the case of this group, I believe it is more about news on products
being shipped, for people that want to keep up-to-date. Catalogs of
Eclipse-based products/plug-ins are still as useful as they were before,
since they allow people to research what is currently available, with
user satisfaction rates and things like that.

But this is just my two cents,
