Disable connection w/out SSL and password storage [message #34665] Wed, 22 April 2009 18:44 Go to next message

Is there a way to disable the ability of the user to proceed with the
connection if connecting with SSL fails? Normally RSE gives the user a
pop up indicated the connection was not secured using SSL and asks the
user whether or not to proceed and I wondered if there is a way to enforce
that the user can only connect when secured with SSL.

Also, is there a way to disable the ability for the user to save their
password credentials?

Thanks!

Hi Denise,

Currently there is no way to disable the non-SSL connect attempt if the SSL
one fails. It would probably make sense to provide an enhancement for this.
In the meantime, I think the only way to work around that would be to
provide your own specialized connector service (extend
DStoreConnectService).

Regarding the abilty to disable saving of passwords, you can use
AbstractConnectorService.setDenyPasswordSave().

Hope this helps,
Dave

Thanks. I opened an enhancement request for disabling the non-SSL
connections https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=273825.
