I downloaded the tar.gz package of Trace Compass, and used tar command to uncompressed it to /opt directory.

My system has installed openjdk-16-jre to provide the environment for it. LTTng has been installed via apt install command.

After entering the tracecompass directory, however, I found that I cannot use any command to install the software.

May I ask if there are documentations helping me install Trace Compass correctly on Ubuntu? Or could someone could provide me some suggestions on the installation?

Many thanks!

Hello

thanks for the interest in Trace Compass.

The Trace Compass tar file contains all components to run the application. There is no installer for that . The only thing you need is the correct Java version installed on you computer. Starting from Trace Compass 8.2.0 you need Java 17 to run the application.

So, download the RCP from [1]. Untar the tar file into a new directory. Switch to that the trace-compass directory and type ./tracecompass.

Thanks
Bernd
