Can someone please explain to me why an older LTS version of Java is expected to be supported longer than a more recent version? Specifically, according to the support page to Adoptium's web site, Java 8 is expected to be supported till at least May 2026, whereas Java 11 only until at least October 2024. I don't understand this, I'd expect Java 11 to be later.

Thanks!

I think this belongs on https://github.com/adoptium/adoptium-support/discussions .

My 2¢: Java 9 and above are following a 6 month cadence with a new LTS release every 3 years, all based on the OpenJDK development and
support timelines. Java 8 predates all of those plans and calculations.
