I'm trying to install a plugin and keep getting the error listed below, this was working the other day but for some reason today it's failing. I couldn't find anything online that helped resolve the issue. Under the install software windows> manager says this repository is currently not available.

Hi,

I have never used gmf-tooling, but the URL of the update site mentioned in the error doesn't seem correct. I suggest you to install gmf-tooling using the url of one of the updates listed on download.eclipse.org: https://download.eclipse.org/modeling/gmp/gmf-tooling/updates/
You can go to Help > Install New Software in your Eclipse IDE, don't forget to update the incorrect URL in your Install/Updates preferences.

Hi

Indeed. I very much doubt that "download. eclipse.ord" ever worked; at least not as an official Eclipse mirror.

There are a number of other gratuitous spaces that suggest that the URL was manually typed. Much better to cut and paste.

Thanks for the replies, I wanted to clarify a couple of things. when I created my original post I did have a unintentional typo that Ed pointed out 'download. eclipse.ord'. I added the spaces in the URL address because I was restricted in sharing links since I'm new. I hoped the community might solve that little puzzle:-).

the link above was my original URL I used which did work 2 days ago, but starting yesterday it stopped working and began erroring out.

Hi

Your error shows only half of the message and none of the explanatory details. But

If you visit that link in your Browser you will get the EF's default 404 page that shows that it is/was a repo, but more importantly if you go to "..." you will find much more. Probably the link you have is to a vintage release. But actually when I try it it works fine if you want version 3.2.1. Perhaps your network is flaky, perhaps the EF download site was down when you tried.

In my browser the link takes me to a page where I'm instructed to enter the URL in eclipse with a screenshot, not sure if this is the 404 you are referring to. Clicking the 3 ... I selected release for 3.2.1 to test and same error.

Works fine for me using

Version: 2021-06 (4.20)
Build id: I20210611-1600

but I see eclipse.buildId=4.8.0.I20180611-0500 in your report so I tried

Version: Photon (4.8)
Build id: I20180611-0500

and it works fine there to.

Looking deeper I see Caused by: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

which suggests some security certificate magic. Simplest is probably to try a clean installation. Better, but beyond me, is to search for an appropriate clean mechanism to refresh your certificate caches.

Note that Sirius does not use GMF Tooling at all, and the GMF Tooling project is not actively maintainted anymore. As far as I can tell, the last commit dates from 6 years ago (https://git.eclipse.org/r/plugins/gitiles/gmf-tooling/org.eclipse.gmf-tooling) and the latest release is from 2016 (https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/modeling.gmp.gmf-tooling).

We resolved the issue by following a suggested solution on the link below. I guess we just needed to point eclipse to use the java cert provided by our agency. Hope this helps someone down the road, thanks!

1. Locate the eclipse.ini file in your Eclipse installation and open it
2. Below the line -vmargs, add the following lines, then save the file:
-Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore=NUL
-Djavax.net.ssl.trustStoreType=Windows-ROOT
3. Restart eclipse.
