index.php/fa/40864/0/index.php/fa/40862/0/Hi,
I am having an issue where the eclipse installer is stuck on downloading artifacts.
It shows me this message in a yellow box Quote:
Artifact download is progressing very slowly from http://download.eclipse.org

Does anyone know why this is happening? I was previously on the 2020 version of eclipse.

This would normally come from a mirror that would be close by to you and be relatively fast. But looking at the script that the framework uses to download artifacts, it seems to say there are currently no mirrors so it will load directly from Eclipse and that's likely to be very slow:

https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/justj/jres/16/updates/release/16.0.2/plugins/org.eclipse.justj.openjdk.hotspot.jre.full.win32.x86_64_16.0.2.v20210721-1149.jar

Which is strange, because all these sites are mirrors:

https://download.eclipse.org/oomph/archive/mirror.php?location=justj/jres/16/updates/release/16.0.2/plugins

I expect you don't have Java 11 installed on your machine so the installer offers to download a JRE for you. But it's quite big and takes time when download Eclipse directly. I've opened https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=575511 to report the problem.

It looks like the installation is in progress, though one of the mirrors being used appears to be slow.

As download.eclipse.org is the main site where all the mirrors get their data from, I suggest not using it for end user IDE downloads at all. It is super slow already.
