gerrit login - Authentication failed. [message #1829828]

Hi,
I have registered yesterday and have already signed ECA, but I am still unable to login to gerrit. I have tried with my email and also the username that eclipse account displays. But in all my tries I only get "Authentication failed.". Any help will be greatly appreciated.

On which page/URL are you trying to log in?

Note that if you are trying to clone, I'm not sure that https user/password authentication works. It's certainly much easier to use ssh authentication so I always use that. There are instructions here:

https://wiki.eclipse.org/Gerrit#Git_over_SSH

There are some instructions there also for generating an https password.

I'm not sure if you've done these steps?

Hi, I met the same problem. the page is "Sign In to Gerrit Code Review at git.eclipse.org" and the URL is "https://git.eclipse.org/r/login/". I can't sign in to the Gerrit to get any SSH key or other things.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for your reply.
iiuc, I will first need to login to gerrit webui to add my ssh key before I can push. And my "Authentication failed" is at https://git.eclipse.org/r/ and so I am unable to login to gerrit webui.

My login at that link uses my email address as the ID and the password is the same one as I use to log into my account via:

https://accounts.eclipse.org/user/login/

Are you able to log into your account? Maybe you can reset the password?

Hi Ed,

I am able to login to my Eclipse account. I changed my password now and re-login with the new password. But gerrit login still fails. :(

I opened https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=565176 to report the problem. I think the webmaster(s) will need to investigate...

I ran into the same problem.
Login or push with my account name, that is showed to me on https://accounts.eclipse.org, is impossible. Message is just "authentication failed".

Additional the setup for HTTPS-Password in this tutorial (https://wiki.eclipse.org/CDT/git#Using_Gerrit_for_CDT) is also impossible. The menu does not exists.

We have two accounts that are unable to access gerrit at the moment, with the error message above. We have tested both user names and email addresses as user identifiers. This bug seems to be intermittent. I also had an issue yesterday registering a second email address. For a central infrastructure, this feels very brittle.
