Hi,

I have tried on a few occassions to install capella without success.

Today I tried again with the latest version and again no luck. I get the error message:

The application "Eclipse" can't be opened.

Not very informative. However, for information I am using:

Late 2008 MacBook Pro with 8GB ram 500GB SSD
macos Mojave 10.14.6
java 8, plus others
capella-1.4.0.201911211736-macosx-cocoa-x86_64

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Most likely the problem is in the wrong installation, maybe they downloaded the damaged file + incorrectly installed. Hence the problems

At least the last release of CDT is not happy with Java 8 anymore. I had to install Java 11 to my MacBook, to make it work.

The last recommended version of Oracle Java for OS X is 8u252, but a little looking around in Oracle Java pages found the Java 11 install pack, version 11.0.7.

Thanks for replying,

I'm following all the links from the capella website which ends with a zip file.

Unpacking this file does not end with a usable installation. I get a capella folder containing a samples folder containing the IFE sample and another file which is just labelled Eclipse, so my assumption is that there is a problem with this because I would expect a file labelled capella.

Not much help I'm afraid.

Thanks for your reply,

Possibly, but I don't get any choice in what to download.

Thanks for your reply,

But I don't think the problem is with the java version since i have 8, 11, 13 and 14 installed on my system and would only expect the java version to be a problem at runtime. I have encountered this type of problem many times and it is easily fixed by specifying which version of java to use in a config/ini file.

Likely it's better to look at the Capella support page for the best place to ask questions about it:
