Installing Problem: Eclipse Java IDE on Raspberry Pi [message #1827359]

Hi!
I have downloaded Eclipse Java IDE on my raspberry pi but it didn't work.
It keeps prompting this error:

An error has occurred. See the log file
/home/pi/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_3.8_155965261/configuration/1589390862415.log

I have a 32 bit raspberry pi but neither 32 bit nor 64 bit installation files worked. I've also installed JDK the latest version.

any idea on how to get it to work?

What does "downloaded" mean in this context? On the Pi, you're basically limited to the version provided by your distribution and its package installation tools, and they're the best ones to ask about problems with it.

What's in that log file that it pointed you to?

first I used the command
"sudo apg-get install eclipse"
but it didn't work. Then I went to the official website
"https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/"
and downloaded the corresponding 32 bit and 64 bit linux packages, neither has worked. I assume this is the right way to download eclipse, right?
if there is another or better way, please let me know!

Eclipse.org does not build Eclipse for the CPU architectures used in Raspberry Pis. That's why you'll need the package from your distribution--they have sole control over how it was built and packaged for their distribution. Odds are there are other packages available that start with "eclipse" that you should browse through, with the one you installed likely being the bare workbench by itself.

Unless something has changed, Raspbian and its derivatives are all stuck on the version included with Debian: release 3.8 from 2012. Fedora is one I know that is far more up to date in terms of the version they include: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM .

that means I have to change the architecture of my raspberry pi 4 ?
I think this will cause more problems than it solve and make other programs not work correctly.
