Hi,
We want to develop an RAP-Application with up to date RAP and Eclipse and deploy it to tomcat 8 using war deployment as described in the Developer's Guide:

https://www.eclipse.org/rap/developers-guide/devguide.php?topic=deployment.html&version=3.12
(Actually the guide for RAP 3.12 still references Eclipse Kepler, which came out 2013.)

This is how we did it successfully in the past using RAP 2.3 and Eclipse Luna. And now, we would like to move to the present!

Unfortunately using Eclipse 19-12 this does not work anymore. The war-product file cannot be opened properly: It shows an empty editor, just like shown here

https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/1078653/

This seems to be an old problem, but I could not find a solution for it.

I could just open an old Eclipse installation, open the Workspace and do the deployment there, but this can't be the final solution.

So what is the most simple way to generate a war file for tomcat?
Is there a way to still use this Libra war export wizard?
We really like it!

Thanks,
Julia

Hi Julia,
we too develop using RAP and as far as we know this is what you can do:

* download latest Libra WAR build, e.g.
org.eclipse.libra.repository-0.3.5-SNAPSHOT.zip
from
https://ci.eclipse.org/libra/job/Libra%20WAR/

* from Eclipse: Help, Install New Sofware, Add..., Archive, select downloaded zip, select all, proceed to the end and restart Eclipse

HTH
Vincenzo

Dear Vincenzo,

I uninstalled the old WAR Products plugin that came from the Eclipse update site and installed the latest build from your link.
Now it works!!

Thanks a lot!!
