I have been looking for ages but I seem cant find where to setup the runtime environment for the server. I was trying to install tomcat.

it says in the tutorials and documentaions in Eclipse, its in the Preference but its not in there.

Sounds like you don't have the necessary plug-ins installed.

thanks for the help. was able to install the server plugin. but i encountered this problem:

The Apache Tomcat installation at this directory is version 8.5.50. A Tomcat 8.0 installation is expected.

there was no other choice for version 8.0 in the eclipse.
