Hi, everyone!

I've got an Ecore model and would like to build a graphical representation of it, say, in a BPMN-like style.

Could anyone please compare Sirius with Epsilon in this context?

Thank you for your attention.

Regards,

Clever.

Hi

Apples and Oranges ...

Sirius is a much better graphical tool than Epsilon, which AFAIAA has no graphical capabilities, pace Eugenia.

Epsilon is a much better model transformation tool than Sirius, which AFAIAA has no transformation capabilities.

I cannot think of a problem that could be solved by either Sirius or Epsilon alone. There are many problems that can be solved Sirius and Epsilon in combination.

Regards

Ed Willink

Hi,

Have you looked at https://github.com/ObeoNetwork/BPMN-Designer ? It is a BPMN Designer based on Sirius.

Laurent

It sounds interesting...Does it import an Ecore model and come out with a BPMN representation of it?

Would you have any URL with in-depth documentation?

Regards,

Clever.

I'd appreciate if you could clarify your suggestion a little bit. I'm fresh in the field and there are so many possibilities that I frequently get confused...:-)

Does it import an Ecore model and come out with a BPMN representation of it?

I'd like to start off building a BPMN-like model with a preexisting Ecore model as input, I don't want to build a BPMN model from scratch, i.e., I don't need a BPMN design tool.

Thank you for your attention.

Regards,

Clever.

Hi,

It does not really "import" an Ecore model. But it uses an Ecore model. The BMPN-Designer is based on this meta-model: https://github.com/ObeoNetwork/BPMN-Designer/tree/master/plugins/org.obeonetwork.dsl.bpmn2/model
You have a sample of a corresponding ecore file here : https://github.com/ObeoNetwork/BPMN-Designer/blob/master/samples/org.obeonetwork.dsl.bpmn2.samples.src.nobelprize/definitions.bpmn

The simple way for you is probably to install and test it.

Regards,

Laurent

Thank you for your reply, Laurent!

I've installed Obeo Designer Community 11.2 and the items

index.php/fa/36916/0/ (alternatively, refer to the attachment)

and

https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/obeo-bpmndesigner-releases/4.0.1/repository/
(BPMN-Designer and Sirius Support for Legacy Queries features)

I also explored all links in the welcome tab. The documentation seems to replicate the available one on Sirius though. Would there be any documentation on how to transform Ecore models into BPMN diagrams or a tutorial on how to build the BPMN samples in the OD's examples folder?

Thank you for your attention.

Regards,

Clever.

Is there a method to take an ECORE model and transform it to BPMN?

It seems Obeo's BPMN Designer could help, but I couldn't even load its BPMN examples, so I've given up using it.
