Hi all

Pretty new to Maven world. I am currently using Eclipse Oxygen.3a Release (4.7.3a) and on this environment can create a new Maven Project directly. However online resource suggest to install Maven Plugin through Eclipse Marketplace. If Maven is already integrated with eclipse. Why do we need to install maven plugin explicity. Any help will be appreciated.

Why such an old version?

More to the point: which Eclipse package did you install? Each of the different flavors comes with a different set of plugins. Some contain the maven integration, others don't.

The plugin you are looking for is fully named as "m2e - Maven Integration for Eclipse". It is indeed contained in the central repository of the "Simultaneous Release" (SimRel). So first check if it really is not yet installed ("About ...> Installation Details"). If not found there, then Install New Software ... should list it after selecting the appropriate repository ("work with"). But installation via the market place should have the same effect.
