I have a project that has custom hardware that runs custom routines for control and data acquisition. I am looking for soft core PLC execution code as well as a development environment for the PLC scripts/ladder logic.

The PLC core would be a core object that interfaces with data/control interfaces on custom hardware within a larger project to handle custom functions the user may require above the canned functionality. The PLC code will not have direct control of the hardware, it will essentially be in a thread(s) of its own and run user uploaded scripts/ladder logic that would run in parallel with the main operations.

Would 4DIAC project be applicable?

The PLC core would be compiled initially for Win CE 7 but may be ported to Win 10 embedded or Linux in the future.
The development environment would be used on a standard Windows PC, starting with Win10.

Thank you very much for your help, sorry if I am off base on the intended use of the 4DIAC project

Hi,

in principle 4diac would fullfill all your requirements regarding runtime system as well as programming station. However please not that 4diac implements the IEC 61499 standard which is an extension to the IEC 61131-3. IEC 61499 is strongly FB based. This can be very useful for your users as they can configure and program your target system graphically. however we currently don't offer ladder diagram for programming our function blocks.
