With Oracle change the licensing module for use of there Java products, this has identified possible security vulnerabilities and very high costs for the university to obtain a per user license to use Oracle Java and to obtain LTS. Are you able to advice on the functionality of the Eclipse Oxygen 4.7 software if we were to replace Oracle Java with a different Vendor. Ie; Amazon Corretto or Adapt OpenJDK. Regards Phill

I believe many people are using different JVM implementations out in a wild and I've not generally heard of any problems with doing that. But note that Eclipse Oxygen does not run with the latest version of Java, at least not without adding --add-modules=ALL-SYSTEM to the eclipse.ini.

To put that plainly, Oxygen is not the supported release, and it was not tested with OpenJDK builds (https://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php?planurl=http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/plans/eclipse_project_plan_4_7.xml) except on RHEL7. 2019-03, based on Eclipse 4.11, is the supported release, and was tested on more platforms (https://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php?planurl=http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/plans/eclipse_project_plan_4_11.xml).
