Installing the BIRT Viewer Application on Tomcat

To use the BIRT Viewer application with Tomcat, rather than the version of BIRT built into Web Central, follow these steps:

1. Copy the files from the ARCHIBUS release disk in the BIRT Reporting\birt-viewer folder to a webapps\birt-viewer folder on your Tomcat installation.
2. Stop, then restart Tomcat.
3. Display the Tomcat manager application to check that the viewer is deployed: http://localhost:8080/manager/html.
4. Verify that birt-viewer is listed as an application, then click the birt-viewer link.
5. A page confirms that the BIRT Viewer has been installed properly. Click the link labeled View Example to confirm that your installation is working properly.
6. Place your .rptdesign files in the \webapps\birt-viewer folder.
7. Place JDBC driver files (JARs) in the \webapps\birt-viewer\WEB-INF\lib folder.

In your ARCHIBUS Application Preferences, System Administration / ARCHIBUS System Administration / ARCHIBUS Administrator - Application Configuration / Configure Application Parameters, configure the AbCommonResources-birtViewerApplicationServer preference to reflect the location of your server. Reports launched from ARCHIBUS Web Central Home Pages, or from Process Navigator, load from that server.
