Whenever I try to run the Eclipse installer it follows the wrong path, I am unable to change this as it keeps trying to go through my D drive opposed to my C drive where Java itself is installed. Is there any easy fix this to this or am I stuck with a broken version of Eclipse?

Did you download the 32 bit installer rather than the 64 bit installer? As a last resort you could deleted the folder ~/.eclipse/org.eclipse.oomph.jreinfo if it contains information about folders that no longer exist on your machine, although that shouldn't typically be a problem; more likely your system registry itself contains registrations for Java installations that are not actually present on your machine.
