Hello all,

Release 1.2 of EPF is approaching (end of July), and we will hold a Release
Review meeting as part of the Eclipse organization process. Community
feedbak is one of the topics we will include in this presentation to
Eclipse.

The EPF group is very interested in hearing your usage experiences of EPF
Composer, OpenUP or any other method available under this project.
How are you deploying them? Any challenges? Any suggestions for improvement?
Are you delivering services or planning to include EPF in a commercial
offering?

Your feedback will be much appreciated.

development project and find that it is just the right mix of process
deliverables. We particularly like the velocity concept ..

I have also made the EPF Composer pitch to senior executive and they liked
the concept of being able to deploy a dev process tweaked based on the
project needs.

Hi,
I was tasked some time ago with formulating and documenting an ISDM for our
small development group. We have been taking baby steps and are slowly
moving towards an iterative development style.

But the task of getting our thoughts formalized and documented was proving
to be rather daunting. We had existing processes available for reference,
but I was faced with the task of putting it all down on paper. Then about a
month ago, I found EPFC and OpenUp. What a timesaver!

I don't think I could say enough good things about the EPFC tool and OpenUP.
But I'll try to list a few of them:

1. Easy to use! I am not a developer, but a business analyst/project
manager and the tool makes it really, really easy for people like me to
document and disseminate process information in a very clean and
well-organized fashion.

2. Website publishing. I found in working on our ISDM that I had a mental
block to putting everything down on real paper. It seemed too static a way
of doing things. EPFC will make it far easier to make process documentation
fluid and flexible. This will be especially important for us as we begin
reviewing all the material that is availabe and modifying it for our needs.

3. The OpenUp content is amazing. It's wonderful to have this content in
such a complete and manipulatable form. OpenUp is the direction that we are
heading in, and I think we have the kind of team you had in mind in
developing it. We're small (3 full time developers, 1 CM/data analyst, 1
dev manager/part-time developer, and myself), and we're all in one office.

Last week, I presented the tool and content to our team and received
sign-off to continue my work with it. OpenUp will be used as our starting
point, but we will be taking baby steps with it. As we review and customize
the content, it will go into our main library (plug-in), and that library
will be published to the group as our "official" methodology, along with
OpenUp as a reference. Both the tool and the content will make it very easy
to proceed this way.

I don't really have any substantial suggestions for improvement at this
time. So far, the tool has done most everything I could ask of it.
