I have just downloaded the latest Papyrus, 4.8.0
I have a existing ".uml" model.
When right clicking on it there is no "Initialize papyrus diagram" menu.

How can I initialize an existing uml model with Papyrus?

Hi,

Just launch the usual "New Papyrus Model" wizard and it will see that you already have an UML resource. It will not create a new model but will use the existing one, adding the *.di and *.notation files to it.

I think that if you create a "New > Papyrus Model" and specify the same name as your "*.uml" model it will "initialize" it.

Try it with a test "*..uml" first.
And before trying on your "*.uml" model back it up first to prevent any mishaps.

Thanks got it to work.
The first time it deleted my model creating a new one.
The trick is too not specify a root model name, then it will use the existing model.

Oh, that's not good. Would you mind reporting a bug with steps to reproduce? Under no circumstances should the New Model Wizard ever delete an existing file.
