SelectionProviderAdaptor is a simple but useful class that I would like to
use but it is not public.

I have to create my own ISelectionProvider which does exactly the same
thing.

Could it be made public in a upcoming release?

The only way to make that happen is to enter a bug about it and make
your case there. Attaching a patch will help your case.
