I'm running Eclipse PDT version 2018-09 (4.9.0) build 20180917-1800 on Wiindows 10 64-bit. This (and previous versions) has run quite happily until recently. After a recent Windows update it now crashes on launch. I read somewhere that holding down the CTRL key when launching might work in this type of situation and indeed it does. I've tried reinstalling Java RTE and SDK but this hasn't helped. What might be causing this problem and is there a work-around other than holding down the CTRL key?

Mor info. I upgraded to JRE 10.0.2 and this gives an error message. In the log I get

Holding down the CTRL key on launch still allows Eclipse to open.
