Hey dear community.

starting to study informatics... and i cant even install eclipse.
new windows system. first i installed the newest oracle JDK, then i downloaded the standard-eclipse.exe.
When double-klicking it, i end up on this website:

http://download.eclipse.org/oomph/jre/?vm=1_1_7_0_64_0&pn=Eclipse%20Installer&pu=http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse_Installer&pi=http://download.eclipse.org/oomph/jre/128x128.png

I tried to set the system-variables, apparently not successfulll ---

appreciating any help.

Try again:

Download and install Oracle JDK version 1.8, check that it is really there:

java -version
javac -version

If your Windows is a 64 bit system, please note that you need to have Eclipse and Java with matching bitness (both either 64 bit or 32 bit).

You may be better off by getting the Eclipse installer and using it to install Eclipse proper. The correct Java is also needed here.
