Eclipse Memory Analyzer has some of its releases translated in Babel.

I am having some trouble adding new releases.

The Babel Translate page lists 4 versions of tools.mat:

1.3 (20.7%)
1.2 (9.4%)
1.1 (18.5%)
1.0 (18.4%)

which is quite good, but we are about to release version 1.8

As a committer on MAT, going to Babel - Define Project Source Locations I see versions 0.8,1.0.1.1,1.2,1.3,1.4,1.5,1.6,1.7 available for configuration.

When I first configured it, it gave a choice of .map file or update site configuration, so I gave an update site as .map seemed trickier and perhaps CVS specific.

The documentation seems quite out of date - but as a wiki I can fix that once I get my project working.

The next day, the .map file and update site options were gone, replaced by the
Quote:
Project Source Locations: (Git repository snapshot URLs, example: http://git.eclipse.org/c/platform/.../snapshot/R4_2.zip)

so I changed all the release information to that.

Today I still only see versions 1.0,1.1,1.2,1.3 available.

Questions:

  1. Where does the list of possible releases come from?
  2. How do I get release 1.8 added to that list?
  3. When will my new release configurations come through to the translation tool, so versions 1.5,1.6,1.7 appear in releases for translation?
  4. Is the 'release train' used to determine which releases go into the Oxygen, Neon or Photon overnight and weekly builds?
  5. Is there still a Babel team to accept large translation contributions. If so, then I could work on getting the translated text in the IBM version of Eclipse Memory Analyzer contributed. That could add transations for Chinese Simplified, Japanese, and possibly French, German, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and Chinese Traditional. If not, then I won't bother.

Andrew, here are my answers:

1. See Bug 530954 - Babel project sync should use PMI for Bugzilla data, not old project meta-data
2. I manually added 1.8 for technology.mat
3. Please enter your project source locations again at: http://babel.eclipse.org/babel/project_source_locations.php
4. Correct
5. Please open an Eclipse Bugzilla - Product: Babel, Component: translations

Just noticed that there is a 'tools.mat' project and a 'technology.mat' project. Are they different?

I manually added 1.8 for tools.mat also.

Thank you for your help - I now see in the committers page:

technology.mat
1.8
1.7
1.6
1.5
1.4
1.3
1.2
1.1
1.0
0.8

tools.mat
1.8
1.7
1.6
1.5
1.4
1.3
1.2
1.1
1.0
0.8

and in the translators page
technology.mat
1.0 (0%)
0.8 (0.2%)

tools.mat
1.8 (0%)
1.3 (0.2%)
1.2 (0.1%)
1.1 (0.1%)
1.0 (0.1%)

translate.php allows setting of project, version, file, string but not language?

tools.mat is the current versions >= 1.0, technology.mat was for when the project was in incubation (version 0.8) [mat-dev] Memory Analyzer Graduation and Move Review results

I have updated the wiki FAQ with some of the things here, please edit further as required.

I have entered the source locations again - and version 1.8 has been found, with 0% translated. Perhaps Babel Syncup only runs once a week or so to copy across translations hence the 0% translation for 1.8

I did find the Git links worked but Gerrit zip links sometimes truncated the download.

IBM Memory Analyzer 1.4 only has simplified Chinese and Japanese languages translated, so is not such a gold mine of translations. I'll look at that again another time.
