Hello 4diac team,
I am going to start a project to build an application in 4diac and deploy this application to WAGO PLC and RPI and try to make the communication possible by following the tutorial from https://www.eclipse.org/4diac/en_help.php website. For this I am supposed to use OPC UA communication protocol. I had already build FORTE with Open62541 source code on my PC using windows 10. I have following questions regarding this project:

1) Is that possible to Communicate WAGO 750-8202 PLC and Raspberry Pi by using 4diac?
2) Do we need linux (Ubuntu) Operating system in our PC to operate WAGO PLC?
3) I had build FORTE with Open62541 source code on my PC. Is this OPC UA FORTE is useful in the process to communicate PLC and RPI? As in the tutorial we have to build FORTE separately for PLC and RPI.

Please help me out to clear up my confusion for this project.

Thanks a lot for your support
Best Regards,
Obaid Khan

Hi,

1) It is possible to use 4diac's OPC UA communication features to communicate between a Wago PLC and a Rspberry Pi. Therefore you have to compile forte (4diac- runtime) with the open62541 stack for the different target platforms. Tutorials for building forte on different platforms can be found in the documentation [1] which you already mentioned (e.g. /Installation/Forte for WagoPFCs or /nstallation/Forte for Raspberry Pi)

2) You need a Linux OS (e.g. virtual machine with Ubuntu) to install and cross-compile forte for the Wago PFC 200. You can also cross-compile forte for Raspberry-Pi with Ubuntu

3) As said before: You need to compile forte for the different platforms. A compiled Windows executable cannot be run on a linux system like RPI or Wago.

Cheers,
Ben
