Using Eclipse Dark or High Contrast makes the text editor coloring really dreadful.
So I have installed Eclipse Color Theme, chose Sunburst.

The Groovy Editor is useless with Eclipse Color Theme. All these characters are not visible on a dark theme '()' '{}' '=' '.'
The editors where Eclipse Color Theme works: Java, Javascript, Perl, Ruby, C++
Where lies the problem, The Sunburst theme, or Eclipse Color Theme?

The GTK theme I have set up in KDE is Breeze Dark. For both GTK2 and GTK3.
Running Eclipse Oxygen.3a (4.7.3a)

I have forced eclipse to use GTK3 on Java 9, but it is the same problem with GTK2.
-Djdk.gtk.version=3

I suspect no one will answer your question here. It's certainly not a JDT-specific question because JDT doesn't provide a Groovy editor. From where did you install the Groovy Editor? Don't they have a forum? Perhaps the color theme provider's forum wold be another place to ask.

I suspected as much, but I did a search and most of the Groovy questions was in JDT.

The Groovy Editor was installed with Groovy Development Tools.

There is no Groovy subforum here on Eclipse Community Forums.

I'm not sure, but perhaps what you installed is built from https://github.com/groovy/groovy-eclipse/ and I'm not sure about etiquette, but perhaps you can create an issue https://github.com/groovy/groovy-eclipse/issues and perhaps Googling "eclipse groovy editor dark theme" provides a helpful link...

That GitHub project is the Groovy Development Tools in Eclipse Marketplace. The installed version is 3.0.0-SNAPSHOT.
Searching does not turn up any good solutions.

There seems to be a workaround by changing the Groovy Editor colors to something that works with your chosen Color Theme

Not sure why Groovy Editor needs to be tweaked like this, as mostly any other editor works fine with Color Theme.
