Resolved: I didn't have the latest version of Eclipse

==================================================
Version: Helios Service Release 2
Build id: 20110218-0911

Redhat Enterprise Linux 6.9

java version "1.8.0_101"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_101-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.101-b13, mixed mode)

Hi,

I downloaded the latest Eclipse Helios with the PDT preinstalled.

I pointed Eclipse to a new, blank directory called "workspace".

Whenever I click on Help > Help Contents Eclipse crashes.

As it crashes Eclipse creates an hs_err_pid*.log file. It is filled with a lot of raw data, not an error messages that would seem to point to what is wrong.

I would be grateful for any clues in resolving this.

Thanks

This is extremely old and unsupported Eclipse / PDT release, where did you find it?

Latest available here: http://eclipse.org/pdt/

I Googled on "download Eclipse for php" and this URL was the first result:

https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-php-developers/heliossr2

I went there and clicked on the box in the lower left for Linux 64 bit.

I will try starting over with a download from your URL and post back.

Thanks

Even on this page latest release is Oxygen ;)

It supports PHP up to 7.1 (7.2 will be available soon).

I didn't pick a version, I went directly to the button for Linux 64 bit in the lower left corner of the URL I quoted. I just assumed that would be the latest version.

Okay, I started over with the latest version from the URL above.

It does not have that problem.

Thank You.
