I'm not sure where to direct this question, as I'm sure Eclipse could possibly argue it's naught to do with them. That's because what I'm actually working with is the NXP MCUXpresso IDE, for their uControllers, which is based on Eclipse.
In either case when an Eclipse project, (well a C Project in my case), is created a number of project files are auto-generated for the project:
.project
.cproject
.settings/language.settings.xml
These files are created without comments to indicate any legalese header info, so I've no idea about the rights of the files. I've been on to NXP to find out if I can publish a project on github. But they've passed the question to the legal department and I've haven't heard a response to the questions weeks later. They've also sort of suggested that it's Eclipse that auto-generated those files so it's naught to do with them.
As these files are auto-generated by the Eclipse IDE it would clarify things if they were auto generated with a comment at the top of each file to indicate the license of the file. I know they are xml files but there can be comments in xml files.
In the mean time, even though there is not indication at present, is the distribution of the files permitted?
Thanks for any help
