When I hover the mouse over an icon in the toolbar I get an empty box? How to fix?

Thanks

Is it just one toolbar button? All of them? Do hovers in other parts of the UI also appear empty?

It is all of them. Nothing that I hover the mouse over gives me any text when a box appears. Just an empty box.

Could you attach a screen shot? I.e., I wonder if it's some kind of "dark theme" problem like black text on a black background...

A tree view with clipped items (when the horizontal scroll bar is showing) also shows hovers. Are these empty as well, or just the toolbar hovers?

For some reason in all the Screen Shots I take, the mouse and empty boxes are omitted? I'm using the PrtScn key on the kbd.

The boxes are pale white with no text.

I used the program recordmydesktop and it produces a .ogv file that I can play back here. I've attached it

Perhaps it's a GTK-specific problem. You could try what's described in https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&th=1071268&goto=1711546&#msg_1711546 to see if that makes the problem go away (and hopefully not cause other/different problems)...

Unfortunately, that didn't help me. Didn't hurt but still no text.

I just noticed something. I used xvidcap from packman to make that recording. That application does the same thing that eclipse does. Empty dialog boxes when I hover over an icon. I suspect this is probably a SuSE Distribution issue. Let me see if there is any knowledge of this sort of thing over there.

It works fine for me if I use a desktop other than KDE. Gnome is fine. Anyone run eclipse on KDE?

I found a resolution to my problem so I thought I would share. As I said, I'm using KDE or I guess they call it Plasma now days. I you go to Settings->colors, and then uncheck the box that says "Apply colors to non QT Apps", all is well. Problem gone.

Thanks and Regards
Mark
