If you go to the download of Eclipse BIRT it still references 4.6. BIRT 4.7 has been out since June.

There is no runtime download of BIRT 4.7 except some buggy 4.7 RC release;

After reading about 200 plus of the 1000 bugs from the Bugzilla report, it is obvious that there is very little work being done to the product.

There are suppose to be over 2 million programmers using the product, well something positive needs to happen before we wake up a morning to find out we have invested a lot of time and code into something that is no longer supported.

It should be noted that the company I work for U2logic, has invested heavily in BIRT.
Although U2logic is a small company we have done the following:
1) U2logic has created a PCL output format.
2) U2logic has created an ODA interface to the Universe and Unidata databases from Rocket Software.
3) U2logic has created an interface to Apache Tomcat to run our BIRT reports using BIRT runtime.
4) U2logic has converted most of its reporting technology to BIRT.
